Profit calculator for MT5.
Enter the symbol, the lots and the entry and exit prices. Get the profit or loss in your account currency, in pips and as a return on margin, with EUR, GBP, JPY, gold and indices handled properly instead of a flat $10 pip.
One standard lot of EURUSD from 1.1000 to 1.1050 is 50 pips × $10 = $500. On 0.10 lots of gold, a $10 move (2,350 to 2,360) is $100. The calculator converts the result to your account currency.
Advanced: contract size, digits, leverage
Formula: profit = (exit − entry) × contract size × lots, in the quote currency, converted to your account currency. A sell flips the subtraction. Rates: ECB reference rates served from our API; when the account is the base currency of an FX pair, the trade price is used. The result is gross: spread, commission and swap are not included.
How profit is calculated
The question is always the same: if price goes from my entry to my exit, how much money is that? The calculator answers it in four steps.
- Price move = exit − entry (entry − exit on a sell).
- Value per point = contract size × lots. One standard lot of EURUSD is 100,000 units.
- Gross profit = price move × value per point, in the quote currency (USD on EURUSD, JPY on USDJPY, EUR on GER40).
- Convert to your account currency. When the account is the base currency of an FX pair, the trade price is the rate; otherwise the calculator uses the ECB reference rates.
Worked examples (3 November 2026)
| Symbol | Lots | Entry | Exit | Pips | Profit |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| EURUSD | 1.00 | 1.1000 | 1.1050 | +50 | +$500.00 |
| USDJPY | 1.00 | 150.00 | 150.50 | +50 | +$332.23 |
| XAUUSD | 0.10 | 2,350 | 2,360 | +1,000 | +$100.00 |
| GER40 | 1.00 | 18,000 | 18,100 | +1,000 | +$111.72 |
| EURUSD short | 0.50 | 1.1050 | 1.1000 | +50 | +$250.00 |
XAUUSD with a 100-ounce contract; GER40 with 1 EUR per index point per lot, converted at the ECB rate. USDJPY is converted at the exit price, the way the broker does it. Your broker's contract size and live prices are what count.
Pips, points and contract size
A point is the last digit of the price. On 5-digit forex quotes one pip is 10 points; on 3-digit JPY quotes one pip is also 10 points. On gold, indices and crypto, quoted with 2 or 1 digits, a pip equals a point. The calculator shows both so you can compare with your platform and with the sl field of a SignalForge alert.
What the calculator does not include
This is the gross profit or loss from the price move. Your broker also charges the spread when you open and close, the commission per lot and the overnight swap. On a 50-pip EURUSD trade, a 1-pip spread already takes $10 per lot off the result; on gold and indices the spread can be several points. Subtract those costs to get the net figure.
Why the account currency changes the number
The profit is born in the quote currency. On USDJPY it is yen, on GER40 it is euros, on EURGBP it is pounds. If your account is in dollars, every one of those has to be converted, and the rate moves. That is why two traders with the same trade and the same lots can see different money in their accounts.
FAQ
THE PROFIT QUESTIONS THAT COME UP MOST, FROM GOLD TO SHORTS.
How do I calculate profit in forex?
Subtract the entry price from the exit price (the other way round on a sell), multiply by the contract size and by the lots, and convert the result from the quote currency to your account currency. One standard lot of EURUSD moving 50 pips is 0.0050 x 100,000 = $500.
What is one pip worth on a standard lot?
$10 on EURUSD and most 5-digit USD-quoted pairs, about $6.36 on USDJPY at 157.25, $1 on gold (XAUUSD) and $1 on a 1-dollar-per-point index contract. The exact number comes from the contract size and the quote currency.
How do I calculate profit on gold (XAUUSD)?
With the usual 100-ounce contract, every $1.00 of gold price is $100 per 1.00 lot. On 0.10 lots, a $10 move from 2,350 to 2,360 is 0.10 x 100 x 10 = $100.
How do I calculate profit on indices?
Check the contract size in MT5: many brokers use 1 unit per index point per lot, so 100 points on one lot is 100 units of the quote currency. Enter that contract size in Advanced; the calculator converts it to your account currency.
Does my account currency change the profit?
Yes. The profit is born in the quote currency (USD on EURUSD, JPY on USDJPY, EUR on GER40) and has to be converted. When your account is the base currency of an FX pair, the calculator converts at the trade price; otherwise it uses the ECB reference rates.
Does this include swap, commission or spread?
No. It is the gross profit or loss from the price move. Your broker also charges the spread on entry and exit, the commission per lot and the overnight swap; subtract them to get the net result.
How do I calculate a short trade?
Same formula with the prices reversed: entry minus exit. Selling one lot of EURUSD at 1.1050 and buying it back at 1.1000 is 50 pips, or $500, before costs.
