Pip value calculator for MT5.
How much is one pip worth on your trade? Pick the symbol, the lot size and your account currency. The value comes from the symbol's contract and the ECB exchange rate, so USDJPY, gold, the DAX or a EUR account get the right number, not a flat $10.
Advanced: contract size, digits
| Lot size | Per pip | Per point | 20 pips |

Formula: pip value = contract size × pip size × lots, in the symbol's quote currency, converted to your account currency. Exchange rates: ECB reference rates, refreshed daily, served from our own API; if it cannot be reached the calculator uses a built-in table and says so.
How pip value is calculated
A pip is a fixed price step, so its money value depends on how many units you hold and on the currency the symbol is quoted in. The calculation is the same for every symbol:
- Pip size from the quote: 0.0001 on 5-digit forex (EURUSD 1.08450), 0.01 on 3-digit JPY pairs (USDJPY 157.250), and one point on gold, indices and crypto.
- Value per 1.00 lot = contract size × pip size. EURUSD: 100,000 × 0.0001 = 10, paid in the quote currency, US dollars.
- Convert to your account currency if the quote currency is different. USDJPY pays 1,000 yen per pip and lot; at 157.25 yen per dollar that is $6.36.
- Multiply by your lots. 0.10 lot of EURUSD is $1 per pip, 0.01 lot is $0.10.
That is why “one pip is $10” is only true for pairs quoted in your account currency. On a USD account it holds for EURUSD, GBPUSD, AUDUSD and NZDUSD. Everything else moves with an exchange rate.
Pip value per 1.00 lot on a USD account (ECB rates of 30 October 2026)
| Symbol | Pip size | Contract | Pip value per lot |

| EURUSD, GBPUSD, AUDUSD, NZDUSD | 0.0001 | 100,000 | $10.00 |

| USDCHF | 0.0001 | 100,000 | $12.15 |
| USDCAD | 0.0001 | 100,000 | $7.16 |
| EURGBP | 0.0001 | 100,000 | $13.40 |

| XAGUSD (silver) | 0.01 | 5,000 oz | $50.00 |

| GER40 | 0.1 | 1 (EUR) | $0.11 |
Gold and silver pips follow the MT5 digits rule used by the SignalForge EA (one pip is 0.01 on a 2- or 3-digit metals quote). Index contracts vary by broker; the rows assume 1 unit of the quote currency per index point. Check Specification in MT5 for yours.
Gold: two pip conventions
Gold is where most confusion comes from. MT5 quotes XAUUSD with 2 digits (4048.71), and the SignalForge EA counts one pip as one point, 0.01, worth $1 per 100-ounce lot. Many traders and some platforms call 0.10 a pip instead, worth $10 per lot. Neither is wrong, but your stop in an alert has to use the convention of whatever reads it. A $1.00 move in gold is $100 per lot in both cases, which is why the lot size calculator lets you type the stop as a price distance.
From pip value to position size
Pip value tells you what a move costs; the next question is how big the position should be for a given risk. Divide the money you are willing to lose by the stop in pips times the pip value per lot: risking $500 on EURUSD with a 25-pip stop is 500 / (25 × $10) = 2.00 lots. The lot size calculator does that for any symbol and account currency, with a prop-firm daily-loss check on top.
If you send TradingView alerts to MT5 with SignalForge, the sl field in pips is counted with the same digits rule as this page (fields in the docs). With position size type risk % in your dashboard, the EA does this sizing for every order on its own.
FAQ
WHAT ONE PIP IS WORTH, SYMBOL BY SYMBOL.
How much is 1 pip on EURUSD?
$10 per 1.00 standard lot, $1 per 0.10 lot and $0.10 per 0.01 lot, on a USD account. The contract is 100,000 euros and one pip is 0.0001, so 100,000 × 0.0001 = $10. On a EUR or GBP account the same $10 is converted at the day's exchange rate.
How much is a pip on gold (XAUUSD)?
It depends on what you call a pip. MT5 quotes gold with 2 digits, and the SignalForge EA counts one pip as 0.01: on a 100-ounce contract that is $1 per 1.00 lot. Many traders call 0.10 a pip, which is $10 per lot. A $1.00 move is $100 per lot either way.
How much is a pip on USDJPY?
One pip is 0.01 yen, so 1.00 lot (100,000 dollars) moves 1,000 yen per pip. In dollars that is 1,000 divided by the USDJPY rate: about $6.36 at 157.25, the ECB rate of 30 October 2026. It changes every day with the rate.
What is the difference between a pip and a point?
A point is the smallest price step, the last digit of the quote. On 5-digit forex and 3-digit JPY quotes one pip is 10 points. On gold, most indices and crypto, quoted with 2 or 1 digits, a pip and a point are the same.
Why does the pip value change from day to day?
Because the profit is paid in the currency the symbol is quoted in. If that is not your account currency, it is converted at the current exchange rate. EURUSD on a USD account is a fixed $10 per lot; USDJPY, EURGBP or any symbol on a EUR account move with the rate.
How do I turn pip value into a lot size?
Lots = money at risk / (stop in pips × pip value per lot). Risking $500 on EURUSD with a 25-pip stop: 500 / (25 × $10) = 2.00 lots. The lot size calculator does it for any symbol.
