How to log in to FOREX.com MT5

  1. Open MT5 and go to File > Login to Trade Account (or File > Open an Account if the account is new).
  2. Type the login number exactly. It is not your email and it is not your client-area user name.
  3. Pick the server shown in your account portal and type the trading password. The investor (read-only) password will connect but will not let the EA place orders.
  4. Check the bottom-right corner: a green connection with a latency figure means the terminal is live. A red "No connection" means the server or the password is wrong, or the terminal cannot reach the broker.

Which FOREX.com MT5 server is mine?

FOREX.com does not publish its MT5 server list, so any table of "FOREX.com servers" you find online is guesswork. The server you need is the one attached to your login in the account portal: it appears next to the account number when you open the terminal download, and the welcome email repeats it.

If the server box in MT5 shows a long list, do not scroll it: type the first letters of the server you were given and the list filters as you type. That is also the fastest way to spot a typo. When the login still fails after that, check the password: the portal password and the MT5 trading password are not the same, and the investor password connects read-only, which means the EA will not be able to send orders.

Does SignalForge work with FOREX.com?

Yes, as long as your account runs on MetaTrader 5. SignalForge does not connect to the broker through an API: it places the order from the MT5 terminal where the EA is attached, using your own login. That is why the setup works the same on a demo, a live account or a prop-firm account on FOREX.com: no broker agreement is needed, and no credentials leave your terminal.

Two practical consequences. First, the terminal must be running with the EA on a chart when the alert arrives; if MT5 is closed, the order is not placed. Second, the symbol in the alert must match the symbol in that terminal, which is what the next sections cover.

TradingView alerts to FOREX.com MT5, step by step

  1. Create the signal in TradingView and copy the webhook URL from the SignalForge dashboard (Connect > Copy webhook).
  2. In the TradingView alert, paste the URL into Notifications > Webhook URL and paste the JSON body the dashboard shows. The body needs the symbol, the side and your account token.
  3. Make sure the alert fires once per bar close for strategies, or once for manual ideas. A re-firing alert sends the order every time.
  4. Attach the SignalForge EA to one chart of the terminal and paste your webhook token in its input. The chart can be any symbol: the EA routes by the symbol in the alert.
  5. Send a test alert. The dashboard shows delivered when the EA confirms the order, not when TradingView fires.

What is different on FOREX.com

FOREX.com is a regulated retail broker, not a prop firm, so the account you connect is your own. Two details matter for automation: the instrument list depends on the entity that opened your account, and the platform download must come from the same entity. If you opened the account on the US site but downloaded MT5 from the international one, the server list will not contain your login even though the credentials are correct.

If you trade the same strategy on a demo and a live account, use two separate SignalForge accounts or two tokens: the demo and live logins live on different servers, and a single EA attached to one terminal can only execute on the login that terminal is using.

Symbols on FOREX.com and the suffix problem

FOREX.com keeps plain names for the majors on most account types, but metals and index CFDs change name between entities (the US, UK and international sites do not list the same instruments). Copy the exact string from Market Watch instead of assuming the name you use on another broker.

The fix is always the same: open Market Watch in your terminal, right-click, choose Show All, and copy the symbol exactly as it appears. If your alert says XAUUSD and the terminal lists XAUUSD.m, the order is rejected before it reaches the broker. SignalForge keeps a per-account symbol alias table for this: you map the alert name to the broker name once in the dashboard and every later alert resolves automatically.

If you size positions from the alert, check the contract with the calculator before the first live trade: lot size calculator, XAUUSD and NAS100 variants, and the profit calculator to see what each point pays on that broker.

Common MT5 errors on FOREX.com

  • "Invalid account". The pair login + server does not exist. Check the server first: a demo login does not authorise on a live server and the other way round. Then check the password: the client-area password and the MT5 trading password are different.
  • "No connection". The terminal cannot reach the broker. Try another server from the same broker, check whether your network blocks the MT5 ports, and confirm the broker is not in maintenance. A demo that has expired also shows this.
  • "Market closed". The symbol exists but its session is closed, or the broker disabled it for your account type. Metals and indices keep shorter sessions than forex.
  • "Invalid stops" (10016). The stop loss or take profit is too close to the current price for that broker. Widen the distance or let the EA manage the stop after the fill.
  • "Not enough money" (10019). The lot is too large for the free margin at that leverage. Recalculate with the margin calculator before changing the lot by hand.

Prop-firm accounts on FOREX.com

Prop firms rarely run on a retail broker. If your challenge is with a firm such as FTMO, FundedNext or The5ers, the MT5 login is issued by the firm, not by FOREX.com, and the server belongs to the firm. The setup is the same: the EA runs in that terminal and the alerts arrive through your own token. The prop-firm section has the login and rule notes for the main firms.

FAQ

What is the FOREX.com MT5 server name?

FOREX.com does not publish a server list. The exact server appears in your account portal next to the login and in the welcome email; use that one, and type its first letters in the MT5 server box to filter the list.

Why does MT5 say Invalid account with the right password?

In most cases the server does not match the login (demo credentials on a live server, or a terminal downloaded from a different FOREX.com entity). Check the server first, then confirm you are using the trading password and not the portal or investor password.

Does SignalForge work with a FOREX.com demo?

Yes. Demo and live use the same EA and the same alert format, so you can test the whole path on the demo and switch the login and server when you go live.

Can I run FOREX.com MT5 without leaving my PC on?

The EA places orders from your terminal, so the terminal has to stay running. If you do not want to keep a PC on, SFCloud runs a hosted MT5 for you from $6.99/month; the bridge needs a plan that includes it.
