How to connect Alpha Capital Group to MT5

  1. Open MT5 and go to File > Login to Trade Account (or File > Open an Account if the account is new).
  2. Type the login number exactly. It is not your email and it is not your client-area user name.
  3. Pick the server issued by Alpha Capital Group and type the trading password. The investor (read-only) password will connect but will not let the EA place orders.
  4. Check the bottom-right corner: a green connection with a latency figure means the terminal is live. A red "No connection" means the server or the password is wrong, or the terminal cannot reach the broker.

Platform and credentials

Alpha Capital Group provisions the MT5 account and shows the login, password and server in the trader area. The server is the firm's, not a retail broker's, so do not search for it in a public server list: copy it from the dashboard and type it in the MT5 login dialog.

If the terminal says "Invalid account", check three things in this order: the server string (it is case-sensitive on some firms), the password (a temporary password is sometimes issued and must be changed on first login) and whether the account has already been breached and set to read-only.

Rules that matter when you automate

Evaluations fail on the loss limits, not on the target. Before you automate, write down the daily loss, the maximum loss and the minimum days from the official rules, then put them in the challenge planner with your risk per trade.

The planner answers the question that matters for an EA: how many consecutive losses fit inside the limit. If the number is small, lower the risk per trade before the first alert, not after the first bad day. Two automated-specific risks to check in the rules: whether news trading is restricted, and whether holding over the weekend is allowed.

Does SignalForge work with Alpha Capital Group?

Yes, as long as your account runs on MetaTrader 5. SignalForge does not connect to the broker through an API: it places the order from the MT5 terminal where the EA is attached, using your own login. That is why the setup works the same on a demo, a live account or a prop-firm account on Alpha Capital Group: no broker agreement is needed, and no credentials leave your terminal.

Two practical consequences. First, the terminal must be running with the EA on a chart when the alert arrives; if MT5 is closed, the order is not placed. Second, the symbol in the alert must match the symbol in that terminal, which is what the next sections cover.

TradingView alerts to your Alpha Capital Group account

  1. Create the signal in TradingView and copy the webhook URL from the SignalForge dashboard (Connect > Copy webhook).
  2. In the TradingView alert, paste the URL into Notifications > Webhook URL and paste the JSON body the dashboard shows. The body needs the symbol, the side and your account token.
  3. Make sure the alert fires once per bar close for strategies, or once for manual ideas. A re-firing alert sends the order every time.
  4. Attach the SignalForge EA to one chart of the terminal and paste your webhook token in its input. The chart can be any symbol: the EA routes by the symbol in the alert.
  5. Send a test alert. The dashboard shows delivered when the EA confirms the order, not when TradingView fires.

Sizing that fits a challenge

The risk per trade is the number that decides whether a challenge survives a bad week. Take your own target, daily loss and maximum loss from the Alpha Capital Group rules page, put them in the challenge planner and it returns how many losing trades you can take, how much you need per day and how the account looks with a given balance. For the order itself, the lot size calculator turns that risk into lots on the symbol you trade, including XAUUSD and NAS100 variants.

One terminal, one challenge

Run one terminal per challenge account and give each one its own token. Sharing a terminal between two accounts is the fastest way to send an order to the wrong challenge, and the history of the account that should not have traded is the first thing a firm reviews.

Common MT5 errors on Alpha Capital Group

  • "Invalid account". The pair login + server does not exist. Check the server first: a demo login does not authorise on a live server and the other way round. Then check the password: the client-area password and the MT5 trading password are different.
  • "No connection". The terminal cannot reach the broker. Try another server from the same broker, check whether your network blocks the MT5 ports, and confirm the broker is not in maintenance. A demo that has expired also shows this.
  • "Market closed". The symbol exists but its session is closed, or the broker disabled it for your account type. Metals and indices keep shorter sessions than forex.
  • "Invalid stops" (10016). The stop loss or take profit is too close to the current price for that broker. Widen the distance or let the EA manage the stop after the fill.
  • "Not enough money" (10019). The lot is too large for the free margin at that leverage. Recalculate with the margin calculator before changing the lot by hand.

FAQ

Does Alpha Capital Group use MT5?

Yes, MetaTrader 5 is the platform the firm advertises. Confirm it in your trader area before you buy, because the platform list can change.

Where do I find the MT5 server for my Alpha Capital account?

In the trader area, with the login and password the firm issues. The server belongs to the firm, not to a retail broker.

Why is my order rejected on the challenge account?

Check the symbol name first, then whether the account is read-only after a breach, then the news or holding restrictions in the rules.

Can I automate a challenge with SignalForge?

Yes. The EA runs inside the MT5 terminal the firm gives you and places orders with your own login; the firm's monitoring still applies.
