Supply and demand trading, zone by zone.
Price does not respect lines; it reacts to areas where big orders sat before. That is the whole idea behind supply and demand trading: mark the base of every sharp move, wait for price to come back, and trade the reaction. This guide covers drawing zones you can trust, choosing an entry style, and turning the whole playbook into automated MT5 orders.
Zones, not lines.
WHY AREAS BEAT LINES FOR ORDER-FLOW TRADING
The logic: when price leaves an area very fast, someone with size was waiting there and absorbed everything on the other side. Much of that interest did not get filled — and unfilled interest tends to defend the area when price returns. A demand zone is such an area below price (buyers); a supply zone is one above (sellers).
That is also why zones beat single lines here: nobody knows the exact price where the size sat. A zone admits it — it spans the whole base of the move. Compared with classic support and resistance levels, zones trade the origin of a move, not just a price that turned before.
Drawing a zone you can trust.
BASE, IMPULSE, FRESHNESS — IN THAT ORDER
The recipe is short. One: find a sharp, one-sided move (the impulse). Two: mark the small sideways base where that move started — usually the last one to three candles before the departure. That base, from its highest wick to its lowest wick, is the zone. Three: rank it. Zones that price has never touched again are fresh and are the ones traders queue for; a zone that already produced a reaction is half-spent. A fast departure beats a grinding one, and a zone sitting at a higher-timeframe level or a round number carries extra weight.
Work top-down: daily and 4H zones for direction, 15M–1H zones for entries. If everything looks like a zone, you are drawing too many — the departure speed filter exists precisely to throw most of them away.
Entering: limit or confirm.
TWO SCHOOLS AT THE EDGE OF THE ZONE
The limit entry parks an order at the edge of the zone and lets price come to you: best price, tightest stop, but you get filled even when the zone breaks. The confirmation entry waits for price to touch the zone and show a reversal — a strong close back out, a lower-timeframe structure shift — before entering: fewer fills, better quality. Neither is "the right one"; they price risk differently, and the stop placement differs too: just beyond the far edge of the zone, sized so that a full zone break costs the planned risk with the lot size calculator, not a hopeful rounding.
Whichever school you pick, write it as a rule: if price touches this zone and this condition is true, then this order with this stop. That sentence is the whole bridge to automation — a vague zone cannot be automated, but a rule can.
From zone rules to MT5 orders.
THE ZONE FIRES, THE BRIDGE EXECUTES, YOU SLEEP
A zone trade is a level plus a condition — exactly what TradingView alerts express. Set a price alert at the zone edge (or draw the zone in Pine and let the indicator alert), give the alert your webhook, and let the JSON carry the order:
{
"symbol": "{{ticker}}",
"action": "buy",
"lot": 0.1,
"sl": 25,
"tp": 75
}
SignalForge routes that alert to MetaTrader 5 in milliseconds and the EA opens the position with your SL, TP and management — the mechanics are the ones in the TradingView to MT5 bridge guide, and the body fields are the same documented in the webhook JSON examples. Test every zone playbook on a demo first and read the Experts log: the rehearsal pattern from the paper trading guide applies one to one. If you run zones on a funded account, Prop Firm Shield keeps the daily loss limit across everything your zones fire.
Keep the honest version: a zone is a hypothesis about where orders sit, not a wall. News blows through fresh zones, used zones fail, and some bases were never real. Automation changes where your attention goes, not the odds: the stop beyond the zone and the sizing that accepts the break are still the plan.
